General Motors has recalled 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured from 14 February 2012 to 22 August 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles made from 15 January 2013 to 22 August 2014 – 221,558 cars in total.

The recall involves Cadillacs from the 2013-2015 model years and Impalas from the 2014 and 2015 model years. There are 205,309 vehicles in the US; the rest are in Canada and export markets.

GM said the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged which may cause excessive brake heat and a fire.

Dealers will update software, free of charge.
