The electric Fiat 500e is now available in the state of Oregon having previously only been available in California.

The Fiat 500e is available on lease for $199 a month for 36 months with a $999 deposit.

Fiat says the model has been in high demand since its introduction in California in 2013.

“Bringing the Fiat 500e to Oregon gives more customers in this environmentally minded state the opportunity to enjoy the Italian style and engaging driving dynamics of the Fiat 500, but with zero tailpipe emissions,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of Fiat brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.

Fiat has also devised an alternative transportation plan alongside the sale of the 500e, that can give retail customers up to 12 days a year use of a conventionally powered car for longer distance travel.

The Fiat 500e retail plan provides an alternative transportation plan called the ‘Fiat 500e Pass program’.

The Fiat brand and Enterprise Holdings, owner and operator of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car, and National Car Rental brands, partnered on the Fiat 500e Pass program, which provides purchasers and lessees of a new 500e up to 12 days of alternative transportation each year for the first three years after the date of purchase.

According to just-auto/QUBE’s PLDB FCA says it loses money on the 500e but sees that to do business in California it must sell at least one model which emits no zero tailpipe emissions. After the state mandated laws requiring 15 percent of new vehicles to be classed as ZEVs by 2025, seven other US states have adopted the same laws: Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Oregon and Vermont. According to California’s definition, a ZEV can be battery-electric, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or powered by a fuel cell which runs on hydrogen.

In October 2013, the governors of the eight states met in Sacramento and told the media afterwards that they want to see 3.3 million zero-emission vehicles on their roads by 2025.

The 500e replacement, like all other Fiat 500 variants, is expected to be built in Poland, not Mexico.
