Toyota has become the latest United Kingdom car distributor to reduce prices,
dropping the medium-size Avensis by up to eight per cent (£1,250; $US1,770).
Prices for the UK-built range now start at £12,995 ($US18,395) for a 1.6-litre
five-door hatchback.
The cuts reflect the highly competitive nature of the new car market in the
UK at present. Toyota GB had previously claimed that the latest range represented
“an average five per cent value improvement” when it was launched
in August and now says the latest price “realignment” means the range
is now up to 13% better value than its predecessor.
Some 75 per cent of Avensis sales are in the fleet or company car sector.
