Toyota Motor Europe on Friday announced the first shipment of its recently redesigned Avensis, built in Burnaston, UK, to Japan.

Around 350 cars will leave the port of Southampton, UK, on July 20, and are scheduled to arrive in the port of Tahara, Japan, about a month later on August 21.

Though UK-built Honda and Nissan models have been shipped to their makers’ ‘mother country’, this is the first time European built Toyotas have been exported to Japan. Sales there start this autumn.
