Up to 70 jobs will go within a month at Krupp Camford Pressings in Llanelli, Wales, after it lost a major order from Volkswagen.
Around 165 staff remain at the plant and virtually all production is now for Land Rover, with some additional work for Bentley, another VW Group company.
A company spokeswoman said that they had been expecting to lose the Volkswagen contract for some time but until recently did not know precisely when it would end.
The plant has gradually lost work and in July said it was asking staff for voluntary redundancies. However, it had not achieved the reduction needed and had therefore to make up to 70 compulsorily redundant by the end of November.
“We are working on a financial structure based on servicing Land Rover and we believe it will be financially viable and more profitable to concentrate on one or two customers than make a range of different products for a wider range of customers,” the spokeswoman added.
