The British hand-built sportscar maker, Morgan Motor Company, has announced “significant reductions” in waiting times across its four-model product range.

“The introduction of the new Aero 8 line has enabled us to make major improvements in production of the Plus 8, 4/4, and four-seater models. In particular, the new paint shop eliminates what was previously something of a bottleneck in the production process,” Sales and Marketing Director Matthew Parkin said in a statement.

“This has enabled us to bring down the current waiting time for UK customers to under two years in all cases, and in some instances, a customer ordering now could take delivery as early as Christmas 2002.”

The Malvern company, which rarely issues press statements, said orders for its new Aero 8 and ash-framed “classic” models show no signs of a recession. “The waiting list may well grow again before too long.”

As well as speeding up the production process, Morgan’s new computer-controlled paint facilities provide over 30,000 possible colours.

“We have already delivered some Aero 8s in stunning, unusual colours to customers across Europe,” said Parkin. “I also expect demand to remain buoyant for traditional Morgan colours like blue, red, cream and green.”
