New car prices in the UK fell a record 10.4 percent in the past year, with prices
of nearly-new cars falling by 3.4 percent.
Up to £3,500 ($US5,200) was wiped off certain new models, with prices
of older used vehicles also falling by 4.5 percent.
The falls, following consumer and government-led campaigns against ‘rip-offs’,
come eight months after the Competition Commission determined that Britons were
paying more for their new cars than their European counterparts.
