Workers at MG Rover have voted overwhelmingly not to strike in a dispute over flexible working arrangements. The TGWU and Amicus unions have announced that 3,000 of their combined membership of 4,000 had opted not to strike.
The decisive vote will come as a relief to both management and unions – who had recommended acceptance of the company’s pay and working practices deal – at MG Rover.
Unions have said that Longbridge discontent centred on flexible working arrangements and the banking of hours.
Under the deal accepted by workers, employees working extra hours will bank 75 percent of the time and be paid for 25 percent.
