MG Rover Group, today (15/12/00) announced that it had exceeded 200,000 unit sales
world wide for the year 2000.
With buoyant demand in December in the UK for its range of Rover and MG models,
the company also passed the 100,000 sales level for the year in the UK. Retail
sales through its dealer body increased by 35 per cent compared to 1999 levels.
Since May 2000 over £100 million of investment has been injected into
the product development of four additional models that will be built and launched
in 2001.
Chief executive Kevin Howe said: "In 2001 the MG Rover Group will build
eight separate models from three different platforms for the MG and Rover brands.
This level of product and production flexibility means that we can offer customers
a wider choice and ensure that our business plan is robust in its reaction to
changes in market demand."
