Mazda Motor Corporation will reveal its all-new ‘5’ mid-sized MPV (minivan) at next month’s Paris motor show after unveiling a thinly-disguised ‘concept’ MX-Flexa version at Geneva last March.

Like every other maker in this increasingly crowded segment, Mazda claims the 5 “will deliver flexible interior design coupled with car-like driving enjoyment”.
Mazda is, however, trying to achieve some distinction amongst a bunch of look-alike, function-alike competitors with what it claims is “unique ‘6 + one’” packaging – seats for seven passengers or six with additional storage capacity.
No further details have been given so far but that hardly sounds much different from the seating possibilities in a number of rivals where up to five individual seats can be arranged in a variety of positions in rows two and three. We’ll see.
The 5 has two sliding rear doors (no mention yet if they’re Delphi’s electric opening units as seen on the Peugeot 807 and its clones).
