The company last January told 270 Nottingham workers it was closing the former Crosland Filters factory which has been operating for 50 years and added that production would be moved to Wales, France and the parent company’s Italian plant.

The Welsh Assembly [government] has given the company £3.75 million regional selective assistance to install new equipment and improve efficiency in its twin plants at Llantrisant and Tredegar. It is also matching the assistance grant.

Sogefi acquired the businesses of Fram and Coopers filters and it also owns Allevard Springs, Clydach Vale, also in South Wales.

The deal will ‘create’ 125 jobs at Llantrisant and is said to safeguard 134 posts there.
