UK distribution specialist XPart on Wednesday said it was continuing to ensure the ongoing supply of MG Rover parts four years after the closure of the Longbridge factory by working with Nanjing Automobile, which now owns the brand.

The company said it had achieved “a smooth supply” of parts manufactured from the original UK tooling at the NAC MG factory in Nanjing, China, and had also maintained supply agreements with original MG Rover parts suppliers, catering for 1m vehicle owners.

“Despite the initial challenges posed by the demise of MG Rover and the removal of tooling to China, XPart has developed a strong relationship with NAC, working closely on key supply initiatives and helping to ensure that parts availability remains high,” said materials director Neil Hipkiss.

“In the four years since the original factory closure, we have built up a nationwide network of over 250 specialists with 100 of those acting as wholesalers, maintaining the geographical coverage of the former franchise dealer network. The network continues to attract strong interest from high quality independent garages together with franchise dealers selling the new MG TF car.”

XPart said it had bought over 250,000 parts totalling 88 container loads from NAC since the Chinese manufacturer began parts production at its new manufacturing facility in 2007.
