In a bid to boost profit, BMW’s Mini reportedly plans to axe three of its models and offer only four.

Nitrobahn said the company intends to stop selling the Paceman, Roadster and Coupe to focus on the other four models that made up around 95% of the 325,000 vehicles that were manufactured in 2014.

BMW board member in charge of Mini Peter Schwarzenbauer said: “It is important to find the right balance between growth and profitability.”

He added the automaker would concentrate on “superhero” vehicles such as the three- and newly introduced five-door versions of its core hatchback line, the Countryman and the [upcoming redesigned] Clubman station wagon.

Product management head Oliver Friedmann said the Paceman, Roadster and Coupe were not “a priority” in the carmaker’s renewal programme.

Cheif designer Anders Warming said that the brand might add another vehicle to its range which could be a convertible, crossover, family car or city car.
