UACJ is to build a new battery foil production facility in China and expand its business.
The supplier says China demand for automotive lithium-ion batteries is expected to increase, spurring a sharp rise in demand for aluminium battery foils.
In response to the growth, UACJ is undertaking capital investment, constructing a structure for the integrated production of foil stock, current collectors and foil for battery exteriors.
The Group will collaborate with Guangdong Hec Technology to further expand its business in China.
With a third production base in China, the Group will establish a global battery foil production system which will supplement its production bases in Japan and Malaysia.
“The new mid-term management plan the UACJ Group announced in May, 2018 positions the automotive business as a growth field,” said a UACJ statement.
“We will continue to concentrate investment of the Group’s management resources and work to bolster profitability.”
Further plant details are as yet, unavailable.
