Toyota launched the all-new Fortuner SUV in Indonesia at the end of last week, produced at the company's Karawang plant some 70km east of the capital city Jakarta.

This is the second-generation of the popular full-sized SUV, which is based on Toyota's International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform used also for the Thai-made Hilux pickup truck and the Innova MPV.

The new Fortuner follows the recent launch of other new important new models for Toyota, including the Innova MPV in November and the new Avanza compact MPV in August of last year. It is priced at between IDR440-550m (US$31,800-397,000).

The new Innova will take on other new models scheduled to be launched this month, including the new Mitsubishi Pajero and Ford Everest.
