Toyota Motor reportedly said Monday it had so far found no defects in cars using metal parts made from Kobe Steel materials.

These included copper tube, aluminium extrusions and steel powder, a Reuters report said. The automaker had earlier confirmed Kobe Steel supplied aluminium plates used in its vehicles were safe but cautioned checks on other parts were continuing.

Meanwhile, sources have told the news agency Kobe Steel executives, including president Hiroya Kawasaki, would decide whether to resign to take responsibility for the quality check cheating scandal after independent investigators publish a report due by the end of the year.

Sources also told Reuters the supplier plans to release its own internal report into the falsification of product specifications around Friday.

The report noted Japan's Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) last month ordered Kobe to provide a detailed explanation of the data cheating and steps to prevent future abuses by 12 November or thereabouts. It later appointed a team of outside investigators, who are due to report to management by the end of the year.

"We received an instruction from METI on 12 October to take steps to find the cause of the problem and craft preventive measures within a month and we are working toward that," a Reuters spokesman told Reuters.
