Thai new vehicle sales fell by 22.6% to 100,289 units in August, from 129,509 units in the same month of last year, according to data released by the Federation of Thai Industries. 

In the first eight months of 2013, sales were up by 8.2% at 939,342 units compared with 866,037 units sold in the year earlier period, thanks to a strong first half.

Vehicle production fell by 9.94% to 193,074 units in August, although on a cumulative basis year to date sales were 16.4% higher at 1,735,514 units.

Exports increased by 18.0% to 103,065 units in August and by 12.4% to 720,141 units year to date.
