Mercedes-Benz launched its new THB660m (US$20m) integrated regional operational centre in Thailand on 14 June 2008, bringing under one roof its pre-delivery and post-delivery operations for the ASEAN markets.
The centre employs 170 people who manage the company’s regional components inventory storage, testing and distribution operations, vehicle pre-delivery inspection and after-sales activities.
The decision to locate the centre in Thailand came down to sales volumes, said Wolfgang Huppenbauer, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand). The company expects double-digit growth in Thailand this year to over 4,000 vehicles – around twice as many cars as in any other ASEAN market.
