Thailand’s Compact International plans to expand its aftermarket brake parts plant in Phetchaburi as part of a THB300m domestic investment programme.

The company plans to invest an additional THB100m in a new plant in Dawei, Myanmar, which will be a key part of its overseas expansion programme.

New machinery will be installed in the existing Phetchaburi plant which the company expects will help increase its share of the domestic passenger vehicle brake aftermarket.

Currently, the bulk of Compact’s revenues are generated in the motorcycle and commercial vehicle segments. Domestic sales are expected to exceed THB 800m this year, up from THB700m in 2011.

Machinery from the Phetchaburi plant will be moved to Dawei which will focus on supplying replacement brake parts for commercial vehicle and motorcycles locally and for export to Sri Lanka, Bangldesh and Pakistan.
