The Taiwanese subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to invest T$14 billion (US$424 million) to strengthen its research and development alongside setting up a major parts supply centre for Asia, say local news sources (13/12/00).

This investment by unlisted Kuozui Motors – the second largest carmaker in Taiwan behind Mitsubishi affiliate China Motor Co. – will be spread over five years from 2001, say sources citing Hotai Motor, Kouzui`s main dealer.

The domestic market will be the initial focus for Kuozui but the company intends to increase exports in the near future.
