New vehicle sales in Taiwan increased by over 22% to 45,143 units in July, from 36,931 units a year earlier, according to industry sources. 

Ho Tai Motor, the local distributor of the Toyota and Lexus brands, reported 16,737 sales – or 37% of the total market in July. Its two best-selling models were the Corolla and Vios compact cars. 

Yulon Nissan, distributor of Nissan and Infiniti cars, sold 5,186 units for a market share of 11.5%; followed by Mitsubishi with 4,812 units; and Honda with 2,932 units.

Cumulative sales for the first seven month of 2014 increased by 16.7% to 255,830 units, from 219,258 units in the same period of last year.
