Sales of new cars in Taiwan are expected to post growth in May, following the release of figures from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
Sales of new cars in the first 20 days of May reached 9,318, up 5% on the same month last year and 11% up on the April period.
A report in the Taiwan Economic News suggested a number of carmakers had reported a good srart to May. It said that Honda Taiwan Motor Co saw a 43.3% month-on-month sales increase, boosted by the Honda CR-V SUV.
Yulon Nissan Motor Co, meanwhile, posted a 49.6% year-on-year growth in the period.
Sanyang Industry Co has received orders for more than 300 newly imported Hyundai i10 mini cars, forcing it to ask Hyundai Korea to immediately raise shipments to the island, the report said.
