Investment bank Credit Suisse has signed a seven-year commitment to the historic Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit. As part of its continued partnership with Goodwood Revival, Credit Suisse will be the title sponsor of the venue’s ‘Race Control’ building while it undergoes extensive restoration.
Race Control, which creates a natural focal point of the Goodwood Circuit, is situated in a prime position overlooking the circuit. Its restoration has already begun and it will be used during the Revival (September 13-15) for the driver briefings, the 3rd Credit Suisse Historic Racing Forum and VIP events.
Credit Suisse says this is the latest in a series of high-profile sponsorships that serve to “underscore Credit Suisse’s almost decade-long commitment to historic motorsport”. The bank counts not only the Goodwood Revival but also the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as key events in its portfolio.
Race Control was originally a wartime airfield building, before being adopted as a circuit office in 1948 when the motor circuit was launched. The top floor of the building was later added to enhance the view around the circuit, and to accommodate timekeepers, the circuit telephone system and race control personnel.
Commenting on Credit Suisse’s renovation of Race Control, Goodwood Revival founder Lord March says: “I am delighted that Credit Suisse is to sponsor the restored Race Control at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. The building has played a pivotal role in motor racing here over the decades, and I am really looking forward to bringing the building into the next stage of its life. I look forward to the Credit Suisse Race Control events at the 2013 Goodwood Revival, and in the many years ahead.”
Bastian Lossen, Managing Director, Credit Suisse Private Banking Marketing International: “As a company that has been involved in historic motorsport for almost a decade, we are well aware of the significance Race Control has held at Goodwood Motor Circuit over the years. With excellent views, which stretch right down the grid to the thrilling chicane and overlook all the pit action, our guests will have an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy the Goodwood Revival. The building is also the focus of the main prize-giving ceremony on Sunday evening. We are looking forward to welcoming racers, media and VIPs soon to enjoy the magic of Goodwood from Credit Suisse Race Control.”
