Volvo plans to end its recent sales slump by introducing new diesel models and smaller passenger cars.
Chairman Fredrik Arup told a Swedish newspaper this week that Volvo would introduce three new diesel models in the autumn and that it would launch ‘green cars’ in growth markets such as China and Russia.
Arp would not discuss recent rumours that Ford is considering selling Volvo, as it did Land Rover and Jaguar earlier this year. Renault and Dongfeng have reportedly been in discussions with Ford regarding the sale of the Swedish company.
In June Volvo announced that it would cut 2,000 jobs in Sweden following a decline in sales, particularly in the US.
