Ford has announced two new app partners for Ford AppLink in China at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona: Xiami Music and Kaola FM.

Ford AppLink is a smart technology that enables users to access and control apps on their smartphones via voice controls, as well as the vehicle’s audio systems, steering-wheel controls, multifunctional display and centre console.

“Owners can access their favourite smartphone apps through voice control while driving,” said Don Butler, executive director, connected vehicle and services, Ford Motor.

“Bringing the apps to Ford AppLink enables drivers to enjoy music, news and talk shows while keeping their hands on the wheel, eyes on the roads.”

Kaola FM allows drivers to choose from nine channels, including music, news and talk shows.

The Alibaba Group’s music service application Xiami Music has tens of millions of monthly active users and drivers will now be able to listen to local music, top hits and select playlists from the driver’s history and favourites.
