Spanish trade association ANFAC has reported that February car sales declined 48.8% to 62,107 units.
The February result compares with a 41.6% fall in January. In the first two months of the year car sales in Spain stand at 121,492 units, 45.5% down on last year.
Spain’s car market has collapsed as the country’s economy nosedived in 2008 – and the car market collapse worsened in the second half.
The depressed level of the Spanish car market is igniting a debate about government support measures, with some in the industry calling for more to be done. February’s figures will certainly add weight to those calls.
