South Korean steelmaker Posco said its light weight steel products helped reduce the weight of the Renault EOLAB electric-hybrid concept car exhibited at this year’s Paris show.

The EOLAB claims to cover 100km (62 miles) using one litre of petrol, helped in part by the inclusion of light weight technologies. Posco said the car is 400kg lighter than the current Renault Clio, helped by the use of its press forming steel and twinning induced plasticity steel.

The EOLAB also has a magnesium-alloy roof made by Posco which weighs just 4kg.

Posco said it had been working with Renault since 2012 and claimed to be the only Asian supplier to collaborate on the EOLAB concept.
