The Mann + Hummel group will acquire 100% of Korean filter manufacturer, Dongwoo. It already has a minority interest in the company.
The acquisition will take place by the end of August and it will help Mann + Hummel achieve its goal of becoming one of the top five manufacturers of automotive filters in Asia, according to Automobilwoche.
The facility will give Mann + Hummel local development and manufacturing facilities and access to local automakers.
Dongwoo is the Korean market leader for automotive filters with 430 employees in two locations. The acquisition is subject to approval by competition authorities.
The new company will be called Mann + Hummel Dongwoo and will be run by CEO Claude Mathieu, former managing director of the group’s US activities.
The joint venture was originally founded in 2002 and manufactures oil filters, oil modules, fuel filters, air filters and transmission oil filters for passenger cars and trucks.
