Jokes about slow-moving Skodas have long gone out of date but more than 30 Singapore car buyers may disagree – they are still waiting for delivery of their Czech cars nine months after they each paid $US9,000 for them.
The delay has been blamed on the cash-flow problems of JTA Motors, which lost its sole distributorship in the Asian island state for Skoda cars earlier this year.
Skoda says it is not responsible for the down-payments while a spokesman for JTA motors admitted that “it was very difficult to see how things would turn out”.
JTA is understood to have yet to fulfil a further 60 orders, claimed the Singapore Straits Times.
