Tesla Inc. reported a 41% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in job postings in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023. The Austin-based automotive and clean energy company seems to have gone on a hiring spree in line with its gigafactories’ expansion strategies aimed at increasing its manufacturing capacity, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, said: “The majority of the jobs posted by Tesla in Q3 2023 were for the US market. Job postings in the US were up by 64% in Q3 2023 compared to previous quarter. Some of these job postings were for Nevada and Texas location, which indicates its commitment for expanding its gigafactories.”

For instance, “Maintenance Manager, Castings Cybertruck” role is responsible for maintenance and future projects at Gigafactory Texas related to casting shop maintenance objectives, meeting business plans, capacity headcount targets, and key performance indicators. Another role “Sr. Product Design & Integration Engineer, Drive Systems” looks at ramping up high-volume production of the Semi Truck at Gigafactory Nevada to be at the forefront of the transition to electric commercial vehicles. The role also requires an extensive background in integration and program development to own the design, change management process, and direct coordination of improvement efforts across a large set of stakeholders.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Job Analytics Database reveals that Germany also remains a strategic market for Tesla as the country saw the second highest number of job postings during Q3 2023.

Sriprada adds: “Job postings in Germany mostly revolve around ADAS operations, battery pack, vehicle readiness specialist, and sales related roles. Tesla has also posted around 250 jobs for Gigafactory Berlin – Brandenburg in Q3 2023.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Company Filings Analytics Database reveals that Tesla is focused on increasing its manufacturing capacity, which includes manufacturing new vehicle models like Cybertruck and the next-generation platform. The next phase of production will scale up at the Gigafactories in Berlin-Brandenburg and Texas to produce their own battery cells, which they are currently designing to have a longer range, reduced capital and production costs, and large volume output. This will supplement their current sources of battery cell supply.

For instance, the “Associate Maintenance Manager, Drive Unit (m/f/d) – Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg” role looks at demonstrating skills in breakdown management & follow up action to prevent repeat occurrences, equipment spare parts management, and training & development. This role will also include the management of equipment maintenance supervisors directly responsible for supervision of equipment availability, performance and will develop calibration programs, schedules, machinery, and equipment used in the department.
