Brilliance Auto is aiming for 10% growth in vehicle sales this year after an 18.6% increase in the first quarter from a year earlier, its chairman said on Monday.
The 10% growth forecast is in line with predictions for the overall Chinese market made by Honda and Hyundai Motor officials attending the Shanghai motor show today.
Brilliance Auto chairman Qi Yumin told Reuters at the show that the company, BMW’s partner in China, sold 71,300 cars in the January-March quarter.
The JV with the German automaker is building a new plant to increase capacity by 45,000 to 50,000 units from 30,000 at present.
