The output of Russia’s Rostov region-based Taganrog Automobile Plant, doubled year on year to 24,941 vehicles in January-July, the Rostov office of the Federal Statistics Service told Prime-Tass on Tuesday.
In July TagAZ produced 5,003 vehicles, up 43.5% month on month.
In 2004, the output of TagAZ increased to 30,000 vehicles from under 5,900 vehicles in the previous year.
In 2006 TagAZ plans to produce 70,000 vehicles.
TagAZ has produced Hyundai Accent sedans since 2001, and Hyundai Sonata EF models since April 2004. In 2005 the plant started assembling Hyundai Porter light trucks.
In January-June Hyundai-branded vehicles accounted for 53% of TagAZ’ sales.
The plant’s technology and output capacity allow the production of up to six different models.
