Motor vehicle imports into Russia from countries outside of the Commonwealth of Independent States, or CIS, increased 48.6% year on year to 440,600 units in January-August, the Federal Customs Service told Prime-Tass.


The vehicles were worth $US4.519 billion.


Car imports from CIS countries rose 71.6% to 38,800 units in January-August, Customs said.


82,900 vehicles worth $394.8 million were exported, including 25,900 cars worth $120.3 million sold to non-CIS countries.


22,900 trucks worth $353.2 million were imported, including 22,500 worth $346.5 million from non-CIS countries.
