General Motors’ (GM) St Petersburg plant has re-opened at full production after a partial suspension  that had been in effect since 30 March.

According to local reports the facility had been being upgraded with new equipment in order to produce Chevrolet Cruze cars.

The plant is now functioning normally, a spokesperson was quoted saying by Prime Tass, although workers there are on a four day week.

GM began the series production of cars at the plant in St Petersburg in February.

The plant builds the GM Daewoo-designed Opel Antara and Chevrolet Captiva SUVs and, from late 2009, the new Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan (also a GM-DAT product) will be added.
