GM has reportedly suspended production this week until April 13 at its St Petersburg plant, according to business daily Vedomosti.

The newspaper said that some workers are being trained to assemble Chevrolet Cruze cars (planned for introduction later this year), while others have been laid off on two-thirds pay.

The plant is currently building the Opel Antara and Chevrolet Captiva SUVs.

Series production at the 70,000-unit annual capacity and ‘flexible’ plant began in February.
