GAZ is in talks with ‘leading global carmakers’ about the production of new car models at its Volga Siber assembly line, according to a Prime-Tass report.

The report cited remarks by GAZ CEO Sergei Zanozin.

In January, GAZ said that it was considering jointly producing new car models at its Volga Siber assembly line together with Canadian auto component maker Magna.

The plant is currently producing Volga Siber cars based on dealers’ orders. At present, the plant has few orders to fill, while the assembly line has a production capacity of over 100,000 cars per year, the group said then, according to Prime-Tass.

GAZ Group launched commercial production of Volga Siber cars in July 2008. The Volga Siber is based on the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus platform.
