Interfax reports that Nizhny Novgorod-based Gorky Automotive Works or GAZ, part of Ruspromavto, plans to supply a first test consignment of automobiles to Latin America by the end of 2004.
GAZ is currently holding talks with potential partners from Columbia, Venezuela and Ecuador, a company representative said. “GAZ is seeking partners that are ready to invest money or supply a base for organizations to assemble products in these countries,” the source said.
GAZ considers the Latin American market to have good market prospects, above all, because of “soft environmental demands” with respect to engines, the representative added.
Talks are also currently being held with foreign partners on supplying Gazelles to Indonesia and Pakistan, Interfax said.
