GAZ says it will increase its monthly output to between 8,000 and 8,500 vehicles in June.

Prime-Tass reports that Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Valery Shantsev told reporters that GAZ produced 2,000 vehicles in January and 1,400 vehicles in February.

The carmaker plans to produce around 4,000 vehicles in March and around 5,000 vehicles in April. The plant produced around 12,000 vehicles per month prior to the economic meltdown that hit the country in the second half of 2008, Shantsev added.

Earlier in March, Shantsev said that the plant was expected to increase its output to 9,000 vehicles per month by June, the report said.
