GAZ has cut its production plan for Gazelle light vans in March due to interruptions in engine supplies from the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, or UAZ.
Prime-Tass has reported that Boris Okhluchin, chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s union of automotive and agricultural machine-building workers, said that the firm now plans to produce 2,800 Gazelles in March, down from 5,000 units under the company’s initial production plan.
GAZ produced 1,500 Gazelles in January and 1,900 units in February, Okhluchin said.
Okhluchin also said that the carmaker had reduced its total production 50% year-on-year in the January-March period.
