Romanian new car sales fell 59.9% year on year in February, to 9,082 units, and by 61.8% year to date to 16,190 units, the local association of car manufacturers and importers (APIA) said on Monday.


The local auto market, which includes cars, commercial vehicles and buses, plunged 62.2% in February. Total sales in January and February were 18,702 vehicles, down 63.5%.


Sales of commercial vehicles, the second largest segment of the auto market by volume, decreased nearly 71% both in February and in the first two months of the year, to 1,368 units and 2,388 units, respectively.
