Exports of road vehicles from Romania increased 282.8% to 624 in January 2001 from 163 in January 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Cars, comprising almost all of the volume, rose 280.9% to 617 this year from 162 last year. Commercial vehicles were negligible – seven in 2001, one in 2000.

In 2000 versus 1999, auto exports grew 241.9% to 9,368 from 2,740. Increases registered: 278.2% for cars to 7,772 from 2,055; 133.0% for commercial vehicles to 1,596 from 685. No buses were exported either year.
