According to the company, the Niagara merges attributes commonly found in C-segment SUVs with the load-bearing capacity and durability expected of a pickup.
It sits on the RGMP pick-up platform and will be produced at Renault’s Santa Isabel plant in Argentina – a facility the company says makes the Niagara the “only pickup in its class” to be built locally within the region.
Under the futuREady strategy, Renault plans to roll out 14 new models across international markets outside Europe by the end of the decade.
The company is aiming for half of its worldwide sales to come from outside Europe by 2030, while lifting electric and hybrid powertrains to make up 50% of its model mix in those markets.
Brazil, Argentina and Colombia will be the Niagara’s initial target markets, with the truck due to reach further Latin American countries via imports at a later stage.
It adds to the Kardian and Boreal in Renault’s line-up refresh for markets beyond Europe.
Dimensions come in at 4.94m in length (4.91m for the 4×2 variant) and 1.72m in height, with 17in or 18in wheel options depending on the trim.
Buyers can choose between manual and automatic gearboxes, as well as two- or four-wheel drive layouts.
Inside, the truck features the Open RLink infotainment system with Google Gemini integration, a multi-sense system and adjustable mood lighting.
On the outside, it comes with full-LED headlamps, LED fog lights, a front skid plate, Alliance Black body protection, roof bars and an optional roll bar setup.
Renault Group chief growth officer and Renault Brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive said: “Niagara is the first pillar of the futuREady strategy, implementing our goal of launching 14 new models on international markets by 2030.
“Designed, engineered and built entirely in Latin America, Niagara carries the DNA of the Renault brand: bold, robust styling; a comfortable interior with ingenious storage solutions; and in-car technology worthy of an SUV, including OpenR link with Google built-in.”
Earlier this month, Renault Group’s Dacia brand launched the second generation of its Spring electric vehicle, the first of four EVs the brand intends to bring to market by 2030.
