Renault and Chinese partner Geely have pledged a further 2bn reais ($388.7m) to their Brazilian joint venture, lifting total committed investment in the country to 5.8bn reais through 2027.
The venture, Renault Geely do Brasil, said the fresh funding would go towards producing an electrified Renault model built on the GEA (Global Intelligent Electric Architecture) platform, with production scheduled to start in 2027.

According to the translated version of the statement, it will be the first vehicle manufactured in Brazil under Renault’s FutuREady strategy.
The two firms also confirmed that Geely’s all-electric EX2 hatchback will enter production in December 2026 at the Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná state.
Renault’s Hybrid E-Tech 4×4 flex-fuel technology is due to follow with local production from 2027.
Renault Geely do Brasil president and CEO Ariel Montenegro said: “More than launching new products, we are preparing our operations for the future, combining the strengths of the Renault and Geely brands to offer Brazilian customers cutting-edge technologies produced locally, achieving the highest standards of quality and competitiveness, from flex-fuel internal combustion vehicles to hybrid, hybrid-flex and 100% electric.”
At the same facility, manufacturing has already begun on the Geely EX5 EM-i, a plug-in super hybrid, and the first Geely vehicle to be built anywhere in the Americas, with its commercial launch in Brazil expected before the end of this year.
The Ayrton Senna complex, comprising two plants and around 5,000 employees, was upgraded earlier in 2026 to support the GEA platform, giving it the capability to produce combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles across its lineup.
Renault and Geely’s Brazilian tie-up was formed in November 2025, when the companies signed agreements handing Geely a 26.4% stake in Renault do Brasil.
At that time, the partners had set out plans for a combined 3.8bn reais investment in the country to support new vehicle development, including funding allocated to the GEA platform.
