Mazda Sollers has opened is new engine manufacturing plant in Vladivostok with a capacity of 50,000 units per year in an inaugural ceremony attended by Russian President, Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.

The factory will specialise in the manufacture of Mazda Skyactiv-G gasoline four-cylinder engines which meet Euro-5 emissions standards.

The plant has an area of 12,600 m2 and features an engine assembly shop, machining shop, internal logistics and office areas.

Installation of production line equipment was carried out by Russian and Japanese engineers together with equipment manufacturers from Japan.

“Our project is unique because the production of Mazda engines will be the first high-tech project in the Far East fully integrated into the global chain of a large international company value creation,” said Sollers CEO, Vadim Shvetsov.

“It is a significant breakthrough in terms of recognition of the competency, investment attractiveness and industrial competitiveness of our site in the Far East.”
