The high quality of cars manufactured in Gliwice and the commitment of the factory’s staff helped it win the nod as one of two GM Europe plants to build the next Astra from 2015, General Motors Manufacturing Poland’s Andrzej Korpak was quoted as saying by Polish News Bulletin.
Opel is expected to spent EUR300m at both Gliwice and Ellesmere Port to ready them for the next generation car line.

Total investment at Gliwice is likely to exceed EUR1bn and expansion of the local road infrastructure may also be necessary.
The plant employs 2,800 staff and this could rise within three years, according to the report.
