Pakistan’s interior ministry has instructed police and rangers in the four provinces
to equip themselves with an armoured vehicle model manufactured by Heavy Industries
Taxila (HIT).

HIT chairman Lt-Gen Hamid Javaid said that the vehicle, called the Mohafiz,
was bullet-proof and air-conditioned.

Mr Javaid said that the interior ministry had directed the police and rangers
to purchase the vehicle for tackling emergencies and for maintaining law and
order.
