The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (Acea) board has approved Nissan joining the lobby group from 1 January 2024.

The automaker’s European operations are based in France with factories in Spain and England plus a styling studio in London and R&D facilities.

ACEA director general Sigrid de Vries said: “We are pleased to welcome Nissan to our fold, whose membership will further strengthen the European vehicle industry’s collective voice at this critical juncture for our sector.”

Guillaume Cartier, head of Nissan’s AMIEO region added: “[We have] participated in a number of ACEA activities over the last 10 years and we are proud to become a formal member.”

ACEA represents the 14 major Europe-based car, van, truck and bus makers, including BMW Group, DAF Trucks, Daimler Truck, Ferrari, Ford of Europe and Honda Motor Europe.
