Volkswagen has re-opened its factory in Lagos, Nigeria, two decades after halting operations there.

The company has agreed a partnership with Stallion Group to assemble VW brand vehicles at the factory on the Badagry Expressway.

The leader of VW’s delegation from Germany, Ratz Wolfgang, said the first batch of vehicles had already been built – Amarok, CC, Jetta and Passat models, The Cable reported.

“Today marks the revival of the assembly of Volkswagen vehicles in Nigeria. Volkswagen has returned to continue a long history that began in the 1970s,” Wolfgang added.
