Global OEM and aftermarket supplier Nexen Tire said it would supply its N’Priz AH8 tyres as original equipment (OE) tires for Volkswagen‘s new Mexican built Jetta.

VW selected the 205/55R17 91H size for the redesigned Jetta, unveiled at the Detroit show earlier this year.

The Jetta, now produced mainly in Mexico’s Puebla region, is also built or assembled at the DRB Hicom Pekan plant in Malaysia, by the FAW Volkswagen JV factory in Chengdu, Sichuan, China and at the VW group plant in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, according to just-auto‘s Production Lifecycle Database (PLDB).

VW has sold more than 17m worldwide since the ‘Golf with a boot [trunk]’ was launched in 1979 to appeal to buyers preferring sedans to hatchbacks. It is one of VW’s longest running and best selling models.
    
Nexen said the N’Priz AH8 is a high performing, all-season tyre, which offers optimal driving capacity in various road conditions. It features tread patterns that resembles shark fins and are designed using noise reduction simulation.

“We are excited to expand our supplies of OE tyres for… Volkswagen,” said CEO Travis Kang.

Nexen Tire also supplies OE tires to Porsche, Renault, Fiat, Skoda and Seat and plans to increase brand awareness by expanding such OEM supply worldwide.

The company, established in 1942, is based in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and in Seoul, South Korea.

It has three manufacturing plants – two in Korea (Yangsan and Changnyeong) and one in Qingdao, China.
