Swedish Automobile (Swan) has seen immediate mass resignations from its board following a spat with CEO Victor Muller and the recent bankruptcy of Saab.
Describing the move as a “difference of opinion,” Swan said Hans Hugenholtz, Maurizio La Noce and Alex Roepers have stepped down from the supervisory board, while Rob Schuijt has resigned as as member of the management board with immediate effect.
The dispute appears to hinge on differing views between those who have now left and Muller, concerning ways to raise alternative funding following the recent entry into bankruptcy of Swan division Saab, the future of Swan and its remaining subsidiary, Spyker.
Swan said it would propose new members for the supervisory and management board for appointment by Swan’s shareholders’ meeting in the foreseeable future.
“I would like to thank Messrs Hugenholtz, Roepers, La Noce and Schuijt for their years of commitment to the company for which we are very grateful,” said Muller. “With the loss of Saab, the company has seen a drastic change in its perspectives and it will have to adjust accordingly.
“We are currently assessing the options available to Swan and discussions on a possible sale of the Spyker business are ongoing. However, retaining the Spyker business under Swan and expanding that business through acquisitions is an alternative we are considering.”
